“Family, oh yeah.” He nodded, pretending to rap the next words, “I love you, you love me, we’re best friends as friends should be. With a kiss and a hug, straight from me to you, won’t you say you love me too?”
He blushed slightly, “Rap rendition of Barney and Friend’s dinosaur love song?”
Vic needn’t have worried about any awkwardness, because he was soon laughing at Megan’s statement. “HA! TRUE! Julian will rue the day he ever challenged me! Remember how Santo was so upset that he couldn’t really spit?!”
He frowned at her, “What’s wr-” As she mumbled into his shoulder, though, it all became clear, “And what’s wrong with that? Learning magic sounds pretty awesome. You’re totally like… a pixie version of Hermione Granger right now.”
Megan snorted at his wrap and shook her head at him. She had missed spending time with Victor, and it was good to finally have a little bit of one-on-one time with her best friend. ”Best song ever, Vic.” She chocked.
She curled over, laughing into her hands. “How could I forget?” She looked up at him, grinning. “That was probably the funniest thing I’ve ever seen.”
She looked up at him, and pressed her lips together while she itched at her left arm. “Only, you know, thanks to Illyana, I sort of have a hole in my soul.” Which seemed to get bigger every time she taught herself a harder spell, she wasn’t ready to share that.
((Will have Megan joining the camping trip, but she’ll show up late, because it’s Megan, so she’ll teleport into the campsite once that gets set up.))
“No matter what, Megan, I’ll always love you. And I’ll always be here for you.”
He laughed, “Hey, what if, when this is all over, I’ve got SUPER SCARY SPIT. Launch spit bombs at our enemies!” He winks, trying desperately to lighten the mood from what he’d just done.
“So, you thought I’d found something out when you came in. What’s going on? You got a super secret boyfriend I don’t know about?”
“I love you too, Vic. You’re family, remember that. I’m not going anywhere.”
She snorted before she started laughing and squeezed him tight against her. “When that happens, I’m never getting into a spit ball fight with you. Ever!” She teased, desperately trying to lighten the mood as much as he was.
Until that. She wiggled against him. “No secret boyfriend. Not a big dating fan,” she told him, as her voice lowered. She dropped her head to mumble into his shoulder. “Iamlearningmagic.”
So some of the rumors has been true. She tightened her hold on her best friend, because she should have known. This was her best friend, she shouldn’t have been so wrapped up in her magic. She should have checked up on him after not seeing him inner classes. This wasn’t about her though, so she just held him, held him and listened.
“We’ll figure this out, Vic. One day at a time, one challenge at a time,” she kissed the top of his head, for comfort, to reminded him that she wasn’t leaving.
“You’re most important though, Vic. Don’t worry about how other people feel. You’re happiness is what’s most important, and so is your health. If they do care about you, they’ll accept whatever choices you make. Just please get better, and focus on yourself.”
“I love you, Megs.” He whispered, quivering in her arms, “I don’t know what to do. I’m so confused. It hurts too much. Everything hurts. And then I feel like I’m being stupid, so stupid. What do I have to complain about. I was DYING and I GREW A NEW LIVER. Not everyone can just GROW A NEW LIVER and cough up their old one! And here I am, hating it because of the pain when I don’t even realise how special it is.”
Turning his face into her shoulder, Vic sucked in a breath. “Sorry. I don’t even know what to say.”
She hushed him, quietly, in a weak attempt to make him feel better. She wondered briefly if she could find a magic spell that would make him feel better, that would make him hurt less.
“Victor, I already knew you were special, but because we are special, because we have something that makes us all special, we’re still people, we still hurt, and we still suffer. You are healthy now though, because you’re too special to die, and I refuse to let you die.”
She tightened her arms around Victor and help him close. “It’s okay. I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you.”
[The piece of paper attached to the notice cork board had the title in big letters]
The following students have been selected for the new Young X-men team. You are not required to join but the following DO fit the requirements of being a student, within the age bracket and with sufficient powers to be included.
Young X-men Team Roster:
It is however expected that Evan, Megan and Ruth (already members of the team) carry on. The Leader is Victor, with Quentin as a sub Captain.
Those that do not wish to partake in the team, please see Victor or the headmaster.
The students that do wish to become part of the Young X-men must be aware of the dangers involved.
The Young X-men will be called on as back up and assistance to the X-men team in times of trouble. They are in training to one day be part of the core team. Not drills- but heroes in the world.
It is not easy and not without its risks.
The Young X-men team will meet Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. There will always be training from 8-9 am, before class. After school training is subject to Team Leader and the adult coordinating the team (to be decided).
All Young X-men are required (as in compulsory) to take the Strategy and Meditation classes offered at the school.
There is also a Team Building Exercise session every Sunday evening for about an hour.
Schedules are subject to change as this is a new team and will become more firmly established as the team finds ground.
Thank you.
“I don’t pay attention! You know that!” She explained while watching him curiously. This wasn’t about her, and she let out a harsh breath she didn’t realize she was holding. Victor was having a hard time with this, so she reached for him and pulled him on the bed with her.
“I promise to always love you and be your best friend, Vic,” she told him and wrapped her arms around him, doing her best to comfort him, and assure him that she wasn’t leaving.
“My new mutations… I was dying Megan. And I didn’t tell anyone just how badly, because I couldn’t. I didn’t want to scare them, I couldn’t. And I broke up with Xorn because… he was never here and I was scared, so scared, Megs. Things were going fast and he’s already in love with me and I feel like such a big kid, and I kept getting feelings for Evan too. That’s not fair, is it? To have feelings for someone else while dating someone? It’s just never here… he wasn’t… and I missed him so much. Things are different with Evan. They’re easier, and not so scary but I don’t want to force anything. They’re just so different. But then Xorn LEFT, after I broke up he LEFT. And I can’t handle it, Megan, people leaving. Santo’s gone, and my parents and … I didn’t want him to leave. But he did. And then he almost died, Mr B thought he was DEAD!” Tears have started by now, “And I was dying and I just… everything fell apart. I couldn’t handle it and I lost control and then my body attacked itself, Megs. Woke up in the infirmary and spewed out my liver and I think I must have grown a new one and and and-” takes a deep breath, “It’s just all messed up. I’m messed up Megan.”
So some of the rumors has been true. She tightened her hold on her best friend, because she should have known. This was her best friend, she shouldn’t have been so wrapped up in her magic. She should have checked up on him after not seeing him inner classes. This wasn’t about her though, so she just held him, held him and listened.

It felted like everyone except for her has met this Avengers, and after seeing them on the news over and over again, Megan got curious. Which is why she was standing outside if the tower and stared curiously at the entrance security.
This was too easy.
She teleported into the building, and her wings caught her before she fell to the ground. She stayed flying, because Stark might have built an Alarm, and she figured that flying would be the safest.
“Hello? Any Avengers around?”
Phil picked up the scent almost immediately. He wasn’t sure what it was, but some new, feral part of him knew and the scent of faerie was extremely desirable to the newly turned vampire. Phil was anything but himself as he followed the scent through the tower toward the source.
Footsteps. Megan spun around and watched Phil round the corner. “Hi!” She landed, folding her wings tight against her back. Oh, this man was pale, so very, very pale. “Are you feeling okay?”
Phil was no longer himself but the time he reached Pixie. He had lost himself to the vampire within, his own self drowned out by an extremely powerful bloodlust. The only thing he could comprehend was that this strange pink-haired girl with wings had blood that was so enticing he felt like he’d been bewitched. He was beyond speech, nothing but a feral shell of his normal self as he moved in closer to the girl, fangs fully extended.
“Eeeep!” Megan squeaked. That was not a man. Not a man, ohmigod, that was not human. She stretched out her wings and fluttered up towards the ceiling. This was not what she wanted to deal with when she got here. “Does anyone know you’re here?” God, why was she talking to him. He probably had no idea what she was saying.
“Help!” she tried, because there was a vampire, and they ate people, and this one wanted to eat her. “Avengers! There is a vampire! Hello!”
There were rumors, but werent there always? Megan didn’t pay attention to them. She caught a few bits here and there, but mostly she’s been focusing on school. Miss Frost’s Ethics class was not as easy as it used to be, and she was determined to get an A.
When Victor had called though, she had her nose deep into a book of magic spells. Like her best friend, she had been keeping secrets, so when he called her, with that voice, she figured he had found out. But she went to see him, and teleported into his room.
“Hi!” she greeted as she fell onto his bed, trying very hard to look innocent. “What’s up?”
Vic raised an eyebrow, “You REALLY haven’t heard anything?” He sighed, “Okay we have just… a fantastically HUGE amount to talk about and I realllyyyy need you to just listen and not be too upset, okay? Okay.”
He took a breath and looked at the ceiling, “WHY IS THIS SO HARDDDD?!”
“I don’t pay attention! You know that!” She explained while watching him curiously. This wasn’t about her, and she let out a harsh breath she didn’t realize she was holding. Victor was having a hard time with this, so she reached for him and pulled him on the bed with her.
